Emerging from the Chicago scene in Houston is an experienced DJ named Carlos “C-los” Medrano (pronounced Ceelos).
C-los began DJing in Chicago during the mid-eighties spinning the pioneering
House Music. He crafted his technique of cuttin’ and scratchin’ – setting the tone for
a party atmosphere. C-los often would spin at house parties and social events.
He moved to Houston and was involved with a few
local band projects. He became a member of a rock-rap group named
Aftershock. The band was signed to a label named Retrograde Record
with distribution from Sony Red. Aftershock won various Houston Press Awards
through the 90′s. It disbanded in 1998 due to contract disagreements.
In 1999 he played a sampling keyboard for a group called Shock13. He took on the task of being the mind behind the
image and marketing of the band. He also produced many of the songs. They won the 2000 Houston Press Underground category award
and disbanded in 2001.
C-los went back into his roots of DJing House/dance music. He began a House music
party group called “Houseyobody (HYB : 2002-2009).” They had many successful monthly events in different Houston club venues.
He was the main DJ and the marketing drive behind HYB. He has remixed music tracks which have been played around
the world from a popular House radio station called Cyberjamz.com. He also had a music slot on Cyberjamz called “Regeneration radio (2009).”
He enjoyed playing records in this 1 – 2 hour of 80′s underground classics.
Today he is regrouping and trying to begin a new chapter of what he loves. He
has submitted music to independent films and he is working on original music to place online
for sale. There are many things coming soon. All works will be posted in his website.
